Plot
The film revolves around Vikram (Puneeth Rajkumar), a daring cop who is assigned to investigate a mysterious case in a village called Amaravathi. There, he meets Gowri (Anjali), a journalist who is also curious about the case. They discover that the village is hiding a secret related to the Indian freedom struggle and a priceless treasure. Vikram also learns that he is the descendant of Rana Vikrama, a brave king who fought against the British. He has to face the evil British officer Sir Anthony (Girish Karnad) and his henchmen who are after the treasure. Vikram has to use his intelligence and courage to save the village and the treasure from the enemies.

Production
The film was announced in June 2014 by director Pavan Wadeyar who had previously worked with Puneeth Rajkumar in Googly (2013). The film was produced by Jayanna and Bhogendra under Jayanna Combines banner. The film's music was composed by V. Harikrishna and the cinematography was done by Vaidy S. The film was shot in various locations such as Bangalore, Mysore, Hyderabad, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Switzerland. The film's budget was estimated to be around 25 crore.
Reception
The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The Times of India gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Rana Vikrama is a treat for Puneeth Rajkumar fans, who get to see their idol in two different avatars. The film has enough action, romance, comedy and drama to keep the viewers entertained." Deccan Herald gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Rana Vikrama is a well-made commercial entertainer that has all the elements to appeal to the masses. The film was a commercial success at the box office. The film collected 6.5 crore on its opening day and became the highest opener for Puneeth Rajkumar. The film went on to collect 25 crore in its first week and became the highest grosser for Puneeth Rajkumar. The film also did well in overseas markets such as USA, UK, Australia and UAE. The film's total worldwide gross was estimated to be around 50 crore.
